Sponsor Spotlight - Everything Mom and Baby Shop

I am a Stay at Home Mom(SAHM) to a very active 2 year old and around this time last year, well January of 2010 I started blogging.

I had no idea what world awaited me when I started blogging and to think it all it started with a recipe for toddlers, a passion to share with others and being a product junkie I shared with everyone all of my favorite finds.

Companies found me and I started reviewing.

After working in the spa industry for over 10 years I got married and had a baby. My obsession for leather bags, make up, skincare etc.. switched to infant clothing, baby carriers (you will never find a Baby Bjorn here, read my blog to learn why), cloth diapers and all the best products out there I could get for my son.

I've always wanted to be a shop owner and to be honest I never thought it would be children products but I love what I do and thanks to blogging I am here. I love all things that are organic, eco smart, effective and result orientated.

Everything you find in my store have been products I have blogged about and loved and when people asked me where to buy I would send them to other retailers. Then a light bulb went off in my head and I said to myself, "Why don't I open a shop?"

Voila....here I am!

Sponsor Spotlight- Itsy Bitsy Bums

Itsy Bitsy
One morning my beautiful five-week-old Baby Girl decided to have five dirty diapers in the span of ten minutes. No sooner had I undressed, cleaned, diapered and redressed her little bum than she she would christen yet another disposable diaper. I dutifully bound each diaper into a little softball of yuckiness and stacked them at the edge of the changing table (at this point we still were primarily changing her in our bedroom and the diaper pail was in the nursery). As I looked over the last ten minutes of our life together I suddenly became irrationally angry (thank you post-partum hormone shifts!). What an absolute waste of money (at that point I had calculated diaper costs down to the tenth of a cent - I knew then exactly how much money I was about to literally throw away). And that small pyramid of diapers would soon find itself occupying landfill space for hundreds of years.

This could not continue!

It was in that moment that I finally decided to switch to cloth diapers.

Apart from the irrational anger shift, I thank heavens for that fateful July morning. Cloth diapering has been such a blessing to our family! It enables us to know exactly what chemicals (or lack thereof) are going on our baby's bottom. It allowed me to take control when post-partum depression seemed to be all-consuming. It ensures we are doing our best to impact the health of both the environment and our checking account. Most importantly, it has provided me an opportunity through which to share my enthusiasm and passion with families just like yours!

Welcome to Itsy Bitsy Bums!

What is an Itsy Bitsy Bum?
Changing a newborn's diapers can be a challenging feat. Not only are you sleep deprived and a wee bit confused as to which end is up, but you also are working with a baby who generally does not like to be changed. In our house the solution was 'The Itsy Bitsy Spider.' Bless his heart, that spider made multiple appearances at every diaper change for the first couple of months. And nothing seemed more apropos than to honor the little guy who first made my baby girl smile (I refuse to admit those actually were probably gas bubbles).

Sponsor Spotlight- Granola Babies

The short version is that I'm a mama of three with a strong love and passion for natural living, babywearing, cloth diapering and attachment parenting and am so blessed to share that with you through Granola Babies. But, if you'd like to know more about us....

Since 2005, I've been committed to babywearing, nursing and attachment parenting. I grew in these with my children and became more and more involved as a volunteer in the various communities both in person and also online. I began teaching others how to use baby carriers, then later joined thebabywearer.com, the largest online babywearing community and found my online home. That later turned into a volunteer position, when I was honored to be asked by the founder of thebabywearer.com to be one of their moderators. I'm so thankful for that opportunity and the many many friends I've made as a result. Later in my parenting journey, I became a leader of Attachment Parenting International and volunteered as a group founder and leader.

In the beginning part of 2010, when I expanded my store (which was started as Slings I Love in 2008), the only name that fit it was the name of a lovely store I had purchased from in 2005, called Granola Babies. Beth, who owned the store, had moved on to another adventure and had closed Granola Babies in 2007. I was able to find her contact information through searches online and was so happy when I was able to communicate with her about continuing my business with the name Granola Babies. And even happier when she agreed. I felt so blessed. My own kids are Granola Babies and to have a store that so defined my style, had sweet memories from my experience with Beth and her store was beyond what I would've imagined. It was a happy day when my store's new name became Granola Babies.

I'm lucky because every day, I get to share my love and passion for natural living, babywearing and attachment parenting. I'm so lucky because it's never feels like work. It's what I love. And I'm so lucky because in this, I've met amazing women and made so many new friends. All I can say is THANK YOU to everyone that has been a part of all of this, from the local mom, to the mom in Netherlands that choose Granola Babies for her needs. THANK YOU.

Kelly Paley

Sponsor Spotlight- Little Bundas

I'm Tutsy Asmus, a mom to 14-month-old Benjamin. I am originially from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, but have lived in Ohio for the past 19 years. I have been married for 5 years to my loving husband and high school sweetheart, Mark. I work as an elementary school counselor, so I'm not a WAHM, but rather a WOHM.

I opened my store in September and I love to sew. My store, Little Bundas, is named after my Brazilian roots. Bundas, pronounced Boondas, is the Portuguese word for butt. I make cloth diapers, wipes, legwarmers, and fleece longies, shorties. I'm always learning and experimenting new things. I love doing custom work rather than stocking items because I like to make special items that are one-of-a-kind.

When I'm not working or sewing, I am going on walks with my family, cooking, and reading. I'm also highly addicted to chatting on babycenter.com, facebook, and stalking on Hyena Cart!

Pre-Quest Contest- DryBees

DryBees Cloth Diapers was established in 2003 with five yards of fabric and a hope that people would like what was being made. For years, all DryBees products were made by my hands on my kitchen table after my children were put to bed. They barely knew that anything was going on. This allowed me to still be a mom and tend to their needs, but do something in the evening that was rewarding to me. DryBees quickly began to take over the living portions of our home. My mother started taking over the bulk of the sewing which might seem to have lessened my load but only made more work because there were more orders to fill, more customers to serve. After the passing of my mother in 2005 DryBees was too large for me to try to resume the sewing and daily running of the business all by myself. I decided that I would look at selling the one thing I loved. I didn't feel like I could keep it going and it held many memories of my mother as well.

With the encouragement of my little brother, who is forever my business cheerleader, I sought out a seamstress for help. I was lucky in that I found one of the best ones out there who helps me keep DryBees quality high. She works out of her home so she can be there for her family and when she needs help she finds other women who can work out of their homes. This is truly how I wanted it to be run. I am reminded every day how proud my mom would be to see how it has grown. DryBees moved out of my home but still onto my property in its own warehouse in 2007. This has allowed my home to be my home again which was much needed to have a moment to get away from it all. It has also allowed me to have help from local moms who, just like me, come after their children are in bed. Every day I am amazed at the other women I work with, from the people who help me run the business to the woman run businesses that carry my products. Women are strong and are able to take on so much and yet still run their families with grace.
DryBees is located in the southern portion of West Virginia. Nicknamed The Mountain State it ranks second in total coal production, with about 15% of the U.S. total. Tourism is increasingly popular in The southern portion of West Virginia. More than a million acres have been set aside in 37 state parks and recreation areas and in 9 state forests and 2 national forests. White water rafting and scenic trails are 2 popular activities where I live. Beckley, where we are located, is the eighth larges town in West Virginia with a population of 16,936. You can see, small town values are what we know. We welcome you to the southern part of West Virginia to enjoy the beauty we call "home" to DryBees. Pre-Quest Contest- Goat Milk Stuff

A Good Clean Soap Made by a Good Clean Family

Now, what we have to say next may not be “PC.” But, we’re not about PC, we’re about JC. We seek to honor Jesus in all that we do and that plays a big role in our family and our business. Our children are taught "everything is a God issue" — including making and selling soap. We believe these values come through in the goodness of our products and we hope you will agree.

We live in rural Indiana on a 3 acre homestead where we homeschool our eight children. Our small herd of Alpine dairy goats roams the pasture in the back. At various times in the past we've also had a dairy cow, sheep, turkeys, chickens, bees, rabbits, and pigs. But, we’ve found these animals, while beautiful in God’s eyes, don’t necessarily make great soap so we’ve chosen to simplify and go with the goats.

Colter, our oldest son is our company’s CFM (Chief Family Milker). He usually gets up before anyone (even Jim) and goes out to milk. He does a great job and all the goats love him – we haven’t heard a single complaint yet!

PJ's adventures into soapmaking originated five years ago out of her desire to not use chemicals on the children’s skin. Since she enjoyed making soap and was so impressed with its quality, she turned it into a family business. In 2008, Goat Milk Stuff was born, and PJ has since drafted the entire family into her adventures. From the initial milking of the goats to the final bagging of the soap, all our goat milk soaps are handmade by the members of our family.

The smell of sweet success is probably the best part of our business. The hard work of our family lingers in the wonderful scents that grace our home (and when you have so many boys, a little help in the scent department is a huge benefit!) I tell people, drop by anytime. I can’t guarantee the house will be clean but I promise it will smell good!

You can watch us in action on this television news interview:

Thanks for caring! We'd love for you to try our soaps and hope that you enjoy them as much as we do!

The Jonas Family

Pre-Quest Contest- Nifty Nappy

Hello my name is Vilate Thacker.

I am admitting to the world that I am a cloth diaper addict.

There, I said it. This really isn’t news to those that know me. I live, eat and dream cloth diapers. Well, I guess I don’t really eat them. I do live better though because of all the amazing friends I have made and all the interesting information I have gathered. I try to be a little more eco-friendly and help my family live healthier. All this because I decided it would save us a little money to cloth diaper.

When we first were married Hubs had lots of school in front of him. Before we know it though, we had two baby girls. They aren’t twins, but they are super close, about as close as you can get. With two little ones we were pinching our pennies. One day I saw a pattern at a small town store for a cloth diaper. As a young mother, of course I turned to my own mom for advice. I asked her what she thought and she said she would never do it, but if I would do the sewing and really use them she would buy me the stuff I needed. We bought some diaper flannel and… ok I admit it… some plastic pants. YUCK! My first diapers were some flannel fitteds with velcro. Oh the lamenting . . . I know so much better now.

We used these for our first two kiddos until the baby developed really bad rashes and we couldn’t get them to clear up. We tried all kinds of cream, but with no support system I gave up and we used disposables for the final diapering of number two. When number three came along (our only boy) we still used the disposable diapers until I met a gal that had some pocket cloth diapers. I loved these ones. They had snaps and a waterproof layer in them! How awesome is that? Then she told me how much they cost and I thought . . . I can make them for less than that. So I did. I spent the money I would have spent on the diapers and I bought some of the fabrics and an industrial snap press and made my own diapers.

I really learned a lot from that first set of pocket diapers. I sewed them all wrong and they leaked around the edges if they were left on too long. So you can imagine our mornings were always wet with lots of extra laundry. This was very frustrating! I knew that this was not the way they should work, so I got on the internet and I did a LOT of research. I spent hours and hours asking questions and reading articles. I think my Hubs was getting worried. In all my research though, I stumbled upon wool covers. This was a great solution to our leaky nights. Oh how, I love wool! With the discovery of wool covers I found that there were better fabrics out there too. I found organic fabrics like hemp and bamboo. I took the time to learn the qualities of these fabrics so I could know how best to use them. Now I could have an amazing absorbent fitted cloth diaper and a natural breathable cover. I was overjoyed!

My new cloth diapers I made worked great! I couldn’t believe how good they were.

After all this work and effort I already had the supplies so I decided to make some cloth diapers and sell them. They worked great for my last four kids maybe other people would want a nice diaper too. I started selling my cloth diapers on etsy and eventually I was getting enough business I felt I could justify a website. I played around with a name and decided on Nifty Nappy Cloth Diapers, because these diapers are just so “nifty”. It has just grown from there. I now have some active retailers and I am adding more all the time. My Nifty Nappy fitted and Woolie Wrap combo is touted as a great night-time solution for the heavy wetter. I also make a pretty mean PeachyKeen Pocket diaper and the most adorable SnappySwimzEaze, which is a reusable swim diaper.

So you ask, “What do I like most about what I do?”. I love the interaction I have with other mothers. I love that I can help them determine what is best for their families and live a greener lifestyle. If you think I can help you please feel free to ask any questions. I love to talk fluff and I would love to help you get started.

Pre-Quest Contest- Ruby Moon Natural Laundry Wash

Our mission at Ruby Moon is to provide you with an affordable, gentle on the earth and your skin, tough on stains and odor, line of products. All of our products and packaging are made with natural and biodegradable ingredients. We rigorously test our products and would never sell you anything that we wouldn't use on our own families.
We never thought we would be making laundry detergent. But like a lot of things in life, necessity is the mother of invention. After my daughter was born, I fell in love with two things- my gorgeous baby and her gorgeous cloth diapers. However, my little one has eczema that was only made worse by the “baby” laundry detergent with it’s too-strong odor and harsh chemicals. I couldn’t wash my diapers in the stuff- nor did I want to- but I couldn’t find ANYTHING in the grocery store that didn’t cause my diapers to leak or ( unbelievably) stink even worse! Not to mention the negative ecological impact all those chemicals had on our environment! SO, as we all do I went online to purchase the premier cloth diaper detergent. I was so excited to use their products! Until, that is, I read the ingredients. Half of the label was vague, industrial, chemical sounding words that frankly- sounded just like the detergent I was running away from. When I contacted the companies, they refused to tell me what exactly was in their products. I am all for protecting your product’s formula- but this is my baby! What touches her more than her cloth diaper! I needed to know what was in the product I was buying. I was at an impasse. I had REALLY stinky diapers and a baby whose skin was not too happy about the detergent we were using. I had a decision to make: Give up cloth diapering or make my own detergent. I chose the latter. After months of research and lots of laundry, I came up with a concoction that is safe for my babies tender skin, safe for my cloth diapers, and ecologically friendly. I began sharing the detergents with friends, family, and other cloth diapering Mamas. They all raved about how clean their diapers and clothes were and encouraged me to go into business. Opportunity knocks only so many times before it moves on to someone who will listen, so I decided to listen to all my laundry detergent lovers. With the help of my family and tester/snuggler extraordinaire, Ruby Grace, Ruby Moon Natural Laundry was born. Look at that gorgeous baby! I can't think of a better reason to make our families and the Earth a little healthier!

Sponsor Spotlight- Bouncing Woolies

I never considered myself "green" or "crunchy" until about seven months ago. I did all of the usual things before that. I used disposable everything, chemicals, convenience. I just grew up that way and didn't really know much else. I have to give credit to a dear friend, *C* and a co-worker, *J*. They showed me everything about cloth diapers. They were patient and helpful! Granted, beforehand, I never thought I'd be the CD kind of gal. I mean..... ewww! Low budget and loss of income forced me to change my way of thinking. I mean, I could try it, right?! Generously, *J* let me borrow her entire stash of size small cloth diapers to try out on my two month old son. After the first day, I was HOOKED. Wow, how easy! How awesome! I ended up purchasing some prefolds, covers and a stash of pocket diapers off of Craigslist that next week and returned the borrowed diapers to her. After venturing into the cloth world, and various social media networks (facebook, twitter), I started to learn more things about the crunchy lifestyle and began practicing more natural parenting ideas with my three year old daughter and infant son. Let's just say, it's brought about a whole new me and an entire different and better way of thinking! I am definitely passionate and almost a green missionary of sorts.
Now, where does Bouncing Woolies come into play? Since the downfall of the economy, our income dropped and we were just never able to get back on top. I stay at home during the day with my kiddos and I work evenings and Saturdays teaching college courses. My hubby works days at a civilian job and also serves in the National Guard. You'd think we'd make scads of money, right? Wrong. We struggle just like everyone else. So, I got to thinking... I'm crafty and graphics savvy. I can create a small buisiness that's green and saves money! I was already making woolies to use at our house, why not make them for consumer purchase so others can save money too! I can help save the environment and people's pocketbook one woolie at a time. Once the idea came to mind, it all just fell into place and here we are.

I hope you like our woolies as much as we do! You can visit our facebook and twitter sites for contests and giveaways. I also announce various coupon codes. It's a great place to reach me.

Sponsor Spotlight- Babysleepbags.com

Babysleepbags.com is your official supplier of award-winning baby sleep sacks and baby swaddles from Merino Kids of New Zealand.
Our mission is to make a difference to the lives of all families with young children. We want parents and care givers to feel good about the choices that they make. We are passionate about bringing you only the safest, functional yet innovative and beautiful products, made from only natures best 100% natural materials.
Are Merino Kids sleep sacks and swaddles environmentally friendly?
Merino Kids products are made of 100% natural merino wool which is both renewable and biodegradable.
So they're a good choice for the environment!
What's so special about Merino?
Not only is using merino good for the environment but it is also BEST for baby.
Merino is naturally fire resistant, so there is no need for nasty chemicals!
Our merino is allergy-safe, it's comfortable to wear without itch, and safe to use for babies with eczema, allergies and sensitive skin.
It's also highly durable! Did you know that merino fibers can bend 20,000 times without breaking, so you know it's going to last! Our sleep sacks come in just two sizes, 0-2years and 2-4years, so durability is important to us!
Babies sleep longer in Merino! Babies can take as long as a year to develop the full capability to regulate their own body temperature. Just a few degrees of variation in room temperature can cause them to overheat or wake up cold. Only merino fabric has the remarkable natural ability to regulate a baby's body temperature to create the perfect safe micro-climate around their body so they don't wake up too hot or cold during the night.
MOST IMPORTANTLY merino helps to reduce the risk of overheating, which can cause SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome).
----> There has actually been some new research which shows that natural merino wool TRUMPS synthetic polar fleece for baby sleep. Read the full study here!<---

Sponsor Spotlight- The Changing Times

My name is Diane Pezo. I am the owner of The Changing Times. When I found out I was pregnant with my first child, my husband and I decided we did not want to put our child in daycare. This severly limits my options when it comes to the job market as my husband travels quite frequently, limiting my time available to devote to an outside job.

As my due date got closer, I started looking into cloth diapering my infant son. I was outraged at the statistics on disposable diapers. That is where I got the name for my company - The Changing Times. I figure, the times are changing and more and more people are turning to living "green" instead of living in a disposable society.

I sat here in front of the computer for countless hours researching what the "perfect" cloth diaper was. So many moms gave rave reviews to the Happy Heiny's Pocket Diapers that I decided those were the ones I wanted to try. Much to my dismay, I could not find anyone local that offered a selection of cloth diapers for me to look at. Since we are a travelling family, I found a nice woman in New York who was willing to meet with me (even though she only had an on-line store) to show me some of her Happy Heiny Pocket Diapers. I was so thankful that this woman took the time out of her busy day to show me what she had. I placed an order with her and was well on my way to cloth diapering. I got to thinking, I would hope I was not the only mom in Tennessee who was interested in cloth diapering, and The Changing Times was born!

Now our first son is 3 years old and feverently working on his potty skills, and our second son was born in July. My reason for doing all of this - to make the world a better place for my sons, no matter how small a contribution it may be!
